Working with Soul
Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step…
. . . but can you sustain the beat?
Working for the Soul
You’ve probably come to the conclusion that you’re already working with soul, but maybe you haven't quite gotten your flow...
It takes a lot of courage to work with soul, so give yourself credit where it’s due. But if you’re taking this quiz, chances are, “following your bliss,” isn’t exactly what you imagined it would be. And that’s okay.
This question of soul can be an especially tough one to truly suss out when you are already bringing nearly every aspect of your life to your work. What’s missing? Why aren’t you truly satisfied then?
Working with Soul: What It Really Means
When mythologist Joseph Campbell’s now-famous phrase - FOLLOW YOUR BLISS - was so eagerly adopted by the American public, he confessed at one point:
“I should have said follow your blisters!”
I bet that rings a bit truer with you right now as well.
The thing is, Campbell was talking about the insatiable urge toward those activities that speak to the core of your identity.
Think of the greatest Olympians of our time and the amount of blisters that must have been raised along their long, arduous journeys to get to the pinnacle of the competition. Yet all of them would say they embrace those blisters as a part of their journey in fulfilling a dream.
When you are already working with soul but the blisters are feeling unbearable, perhaps a reframing needs to take place. A shift in thinking and adjustments in your day-to-day processing could, like Olympic athletes, help you embrace – and then move through – the blisters, and on to bliss.
